…is to be published and unleashed on the public at long last , some decades after it was discovered in an Italian monastery last century by Wilfrid Voynich, a Polish – American book dealer.
It currently resides at Yale University, in custody apparently, but will be released in order that 898 copies can be made and sold at £7000 each.
So when they say it is being made public, what they really mean is, that it will be available to 898 very wealthy people who covet this type of thing and don’t give a fig whether there is any hidden meaning in the content.
I like puzzles and I have to admit that I occasionally have a look at what is available on the internet regarding this manuscript when I have nothing better to do. I only found out about it some 9 months ago, so its interesting that it should come to light now.
Its full of all kinds of drawings, the kind that my generation might have done in art class or nature lesson. The script is very beautiful to look at, without knowing what it actually says.
Over the decades , many scholars and cryptologists have studied this, but no one , thus far, has been able to decipher the code, if indeed there is one. It would be a real feather in the cap of any child or adult who was able to make sense of it. However, at that price its unlikely to reach the person who may hold the key unless it can be more widely publicised on the net. It would be a shame if these copies were made , only to lie in safe deposit boxes for the next few hundred years
For myself, I’ll keep popping back for a visit and explore the pages which are available to everyone.
